Governors
Governors of the Trust were historically involved in the governance of the charity. They made a one-time donation of £100, and were formally "elected" at an Annual Assembly (or Annual General Meeting).
Annual Assemblies included a Eucharist before the meeting, and an engaging talk from a guest speaker afterwards. These have included The Revd Canon Thomas Woodhouse, Chaplain of The King's Chapel of The Savoy in 2025; Dr Liz Graveling, Senior Researcher at the Church of England in 2024; and The Rt Revd Humphrey Southern, Principal of Ripon College Cuddesdon in 2023.
While day-to-day responsibility for the charity rests with our Trustees (also known as our Court of Assistants), the Governors were previously our ultimate governing body, as laid down in our 1678 Royal Charter from King Charles II.
Governor Circle
In July 2026, to bring our governance and everyday working practices more inkeeping with the functions of a thriving modern charity, our Governors voted at an Extraordinary General Meeting to change Governorship and our Royal Charter, including removing the need to approve the selection of new Trustees at at an annual meeting.
Many of our past Governors are now part of an exclusive Governor Circle, through which they're invited to events like our Festival Service, and kept updated on the impact of our work with clergy and their families.
