We are delighted to announce that Catherine Cashmore has been appointed as our new Head of External Relations.

In this new role, Catherine will lead our engagement with national Churches, Dioceses and other partners. She will also have oversight of the Trust’s growing involvement in research, thought leadership and advocacy. As part of our senior leadership team, she will play a critical role in developing the Trust’s grants and services and communicating these to clergy and their dependants.

Catherine brings significant experience from a range of marketing and communications roles. A former senior journalist with the BBC and Sky News, she subsequently served as Director of Communications for the Diocese of Hereford, worked for the Church of England’s central Church House media team, and most recently as Media Manager for The Salvation Army.

She will lead on telling stories that will resonate with people and how the Trust can help with new and existing beneficiaries, supporters and friends. As a clergy spouse, whose family were supported during a challenging time by Clergy Support Trust, she is ideally placed to understand the nature and value of the Trust’s programmes.

Chief Executive Ben Cahill-Nicholls said:

Catherine is a wonderful addition to the outstanding team at Clergy Support Trust, and I am very excited to begin working with her. The challenges of the past eighteen  months have affected many clergy and their families, as so many others, and the Trust is working harder than ever to support and promote their wellbeing. Catherine’s skill and expertise in marketing and communications will help us to reach more people, and develop programmes which serve them ever better.

Catherine Cashmore said:

I am thrilled to be joining the excellent Clergy Support Trust at such a key time. With my clergy household having received its support previously, I am eager to ensure other clergy families know that they can come to Clergy Support Trust for confidential and timely help. Clergy and their families play a vital role in supporting their communities, and I am extremely privileged to have this opportunity to play my part in supporting them.

Catherine is joining Clergy Support Trust on Monday 28th June, 2021. You can connect with her on LinkedIn, where she would be pleased to hear from you.
